Hello! My name is Traci Oney and I am your child's teacher. This is my third year to teach first grade. I graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (better known as Elementary Education) with specialiazations in math and reading. I am very excited about the upcoming year and I am happy that your child is in my class.
School begins at 8:30 and dismissal is at 3:15. Breakfast is served from 7:50 until 8:25. Our lunch time is from 11:03-11:33. Recess is 11:45-12:15. Conference is from 1:00-2:00.
The Class Expectations are as follows:
1. Follow directions first time given.
2. Keep hands and objects to yourself.
3. Respect yourself and others.
4. Raise your hand.
5. Work quietly and be prepared at all times.
Consequences:
1. Warning - move clip to yellow
2. Move clip to orange - miss 5 minutes of recess
3. Move clip to blue - miss 10 minutes of recess
4. Move clip to red - miss entire recess and/or note sent home to parent and/or sent to principal
Rewards:
Each afternoon, any child who has not moved their clip will receive a sticker on their behavior card. When a child has filled a row of 5 on the behavior card, they will receive a treat from my candy jar or an encouragement sticker. When a chld has filled up the entire behavior card they get to make a trip to my "treasure chest."

Folders
Each child has been given a homework folder. This folder is to be brought home everyday and returned the next day. It will contain that days homework assignment and any notes. I will be communicating with you frequently throughout the year to keep you informed of your child's progress. One way this is done is through your child's weekly folder. This folder is sent home on Mondays and it will contain your child's work from the previous week and an update on your child strenghts and weaknesses.
General Homework Schedule
I give reading assignments , for the district build-up readers, on Monday for the entire week. From this reading assignment each student should be reading every night.
Monday - Write spelling words 3 times each.
Tuesday - Math Grid
Wednesday - Reading Check-Up (checks for comprehension)
Thursday - Study for spelling test.
